East/West one to two person system
3*20 solar evacuated tubes £4,400 (inc VAT)
The triple solar panel water heating system containing 3*20 evacuated tubes
should be sufficient for a three to four person home with an east to west facing roof and average hot water requirements.
Unfortunately 60-tubes on an east or west facing roof are only equivalent to around 36 tubes on a south facing roof (60%).
Placing all panels side-by-side reduces the overall cost by around £200, compared to having one panel on the east facing roof and two panels on the west facing roof.
This professionally installed solar panel east/west water heating system includes:
- Three solar panels, each containing 20 high efficiency solar evacuated tubes.
The panels will be placed side-by-side on the east or on the west facing roof:
- Each panel covers around 2.25 square metres.
- Panel dimensions : 1.76 metres (height) * 1.5 metres (width) * 13 cm
- Each double walled evacuated tube is 47mm * 1.5 metres.
- High efficiency, double insulated, vented solar hot water cylinder (e.g. 162 litres to 206 litres)
which will replace your existing hot water cylinder
(if you require a less common unvented/mains pressure hot water cylinder,
please be aware that these cost around £500 more)
- Copper tubing (with high temperature insulation) required to connect the solar panel to the cylinder.
- A controller that monitors the temperature at three points: the solar panel on the roof,
the bottom of your cylinder and the top of your cylinder.
The controller automatically switches on the water pump when the water in the panel is about
6 degrees warmer than the bottom of the hot water cylinder.
- Other components required to complete the system, including: an expansion vessel,
pressure relief valve, pressure gauge, water pump,
non-return valves, stop valves and drain valves.
- Solar antifreeze to ensure the water in the Solar Panel system never freezes.
